After the success of “World Be Gone”, Erasure is currently on a massive world tour. The synthpop duo has also recorded an orchestral album, with alternate versions of the songs from the last album.
“World Beyond” comes out on Mute on March 19. They’ve teamed up with Echo Collective from Brussels, who have also worked with Johann Johannsen and Stars of the Lid. Together they’ve reinterpreted the songs in a classical way. Neil Leiter from Echo Collective explains.
- By stripping so much away, we were able to find a new space for Andy to fill. The text of the songs became much more important in the overall construction of the songs, and Andy was free to explore more dynamics and vocal range.
To give you an idea of what it sounds like, the band have put together a short clip from the recording sessions.
