Brian Eno and collborator Peter Chilvers of Generative Music just released an interesting music creation app for the iPad: “Scape”. This gadget is no standard sequencer but actually, in many ways, the holy grail for people craving to get their hands on some of the generative tools that Eno himself uses. The concept of this app is that you sculpt your own soundscape with different elements, much like a musical jigsaw puzzle. These different building blocks have their own, specific musical purpose and the most interesting thing is that they influence each other in different ways. Each building element has its own “life story” and wont behave identically on each performance. In other words; an ideal tool for ambient music creation.
