Swedish new wave pioneers Lustans Lakejer have just released their first-ever live album, ”Hotell” and tomorrow I’ll catch them on stage in Release hometown Gothenburg where they made their breakthrough over four decades ago.
They’ll perform at Pustervik in Gothenburg, with Compute as support act and Eddie Bengtsson in the DJ booth. Pustervik is one of the venues featured on their fresh live double album “Hotell”. It’s available on vinyl, CD, and all digital platforms, but fans have been waiting patiently for their pre-ordered CD:s to arrive (they were shipped from Taiwan about a week ago). “Hotell” reached the number two spot on the Swedish album charts and has been very well received by both fans and critics.
It was recorded between 2017 and 2025 at different venues, and the 21-track collection captures the band’s signature elegance, energy and presence. Spanning their entire 45-year career, it features classic hits alongside tracks from newer releases like their 2022 album “Mörk materia” and personal picks. The band put a lot of effort on finding the right balance and variation, and say only minimal tweaking of the live recordings were needed. The album includes a guest appearance by keyboard legend Richard Barbieri (Japan, Porcupine Tree) and features some of the final recordings by late member Tom Wolgers. Frontman Johan Kinde describes the release as a testament to the band’s enduring dedication:
- After over 40 years in the service of the night, we are still just as devoted to giving our absolute best.
