Coloured Tears has just released not one, but two Twice a Man cover albums that are praised by the electronic and darkwave pioneers themselves.
Dan Söderqvist (Twice a Man):
- It was not only a journey in to the past, but with astonishment and with a happy smile, my experience of the songs grew into admiration of all work put into this project and also a proudness of the quality of the original songs. The new versions are very attractive and the production feels ”modern” without losing the melancholic edge of the originals. My personal favorites are the low-key songs; “Early Morning”, “Lapwing Territory” and the magnificent “Waterland”, but I like the uptempo numbers as well.
Speaking of uptempo songs, the classic “Decay” is a successful first single. It’s featured on the first album with the same name, with covers from the formative years 1982-1985, while the “Time” album with covers from 1984-1988.
Coloured Tears, helmed by André Grafert from the Hamburg area, has managed to balance the original feel of the tracks with a contemporary darkwave vibe. The songs are elevated with a beautiful driving flow.
“Decay” and “Time” are available on Bandcamp only.
