John von Ahlen from Australian synthpop duo Parralox delivers the debut album from hos solo project The Sound of the Crowd today, via Conzoom Records in Hamburg.

Von Ahlen mentions New Order, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, The Carpenters and Randy Crawford as sources of inspirations. And the name The Sound of the Crowd is of course from the Human League classic with the same name. He says he created the project as music therapy in-between production and downtime from Parralox.

The album features 2 guest vocalists (none of them is Amii from Parralox) and one of them performs “Shalom”, a take on the traditional Jewish Sabbath song “Shalom Aleichem”.
