Skilled Swedish/Norwegian technopop trio Code 64 has decided to quit after the departure of member Christian Espeland (to the right in the pic). Remaining members Hans Mattsson and Bjørn Marius Borg will start a new band as a direct replacement. Read Code 64′s statement below.

UK synthpop veterans OMD have cancelled the remaining dates on their current “English Electric” tour due to the illness of drummer Malcolm Holmes. He is being treated for heat exhaustion after a concert in Toronto. Holmes suffered a heart attack in 2004. [more...]

Bill Leeb and his band Front Line Assembly have been around since 1986, showing an impressive longevity and innovation in a somewhat stale genre. Last year we got the soundtrack “Airmech”, where their sound was infused with the sound of today, and this burst of creativity continued into “Echogenetic”, the latest album. I called up Bill himself in his Vancouver home to talk about the making of it.

Swedish musician, producer, mixer and programmer Christoffer Berg, 31, had already made a name for himself on the electronic music scene because of his involvement with The Knife and Fever Ray. The rumour about his skills finally reached the Depeche Mode management and, all of a sudden, Daniel Miller was on the phone… Peter Marchione talked to Mr Berg in Gothenburg – his and Release’s hometown – and Fredrik “Schlatta” Svensson took some photos in Svenska Grammofonstudion.

Klinik, En Esch and Mona Mur, Die Form, The Arch, Ka-Spel and Black Tape for a Blue Girl are some of the names on this digital donation release, out now.

Henric de la Cour returns with “Mandrills” – and a movie

Henric de la Cour’s solo album was a chilling and excellent effort, and now he’s poised to return with “Mandrills” (Progress Productions) in September. It was recorded in Barnhus Zoo Studios in Stockholm together with Henric’s former Yvonne bandmate Rikard Lindh, and is described as a “dark, dystopian journey that holds strong melodies”.  [more...]
