BMG acquires Mute catalogue

BMG has acquired the Mute catalogue from Universal. Universal acquired EMI (with Mute) for 1.2 billion British Pounds 3 months ago but Universal has been forced by the European Commission to sell some of its assets.

- We know that BMG will provide a good home for Mute’s artists, Universal says in a statement.

EMI bought Mute in 2002.
