IAMBIA
PROVOCATEUR
ALBUM PROGRESS RELEASE: NOVEMBER 19, 2008 REVIEW: DECEMBER 16, 2008

Greece doesn't have that many well known electronic bands, but seeing as Iambia is getting better and better, I guess we will soon have at least one more. This is their third full length album since starting out in 2000, and as usual it's a very aggressive blend of hard electro and EBM. Some detuned leads make an unwelcome appearance, but I feel that Iambia has a certain something to distinguish them from the hellectro crowd. The production is top notch, the beats are hard and unrelenting, and there's enough variation between the songs to keep me interested.

My favourites are probably "Digital Blasphemy" with its slower tempo and more melodic offerings, and "Lunatech Dreams", featuring a beat that simply won't let you stand still. There's an ominous feeling to the entire album, but not in the overtly "evil" way of for example Suicide Commando; it's more a subtle aura emanating from the cold electronics, telling the tales from the digital wasteland that Iambia inhabits.
