Priest return with anti-surveillance track “Python” ahead of new album

Swedish masked outfit Priest have just launched “Python”, the lead single offering a first taste of their newly announced fifth full-length album, “Altered State Police”.
The album is scheduled for an October 23 arrival via Blue Nine, and is designed to be listened to from start to finish – a classic album experience, that’s how it’s done.
The new single blends dark electronics and industrial tones with rhythmic 90:s big beat influences to tackle modern themes of digital tracking, privacy loss, and corporate control. According to the band, the track sets a dystopian tone for the upcoming release, which functions as a conceptual effort exploring human dependence on technology, political friction, and machine integration.
The ambitious trio, who never forgets to tell us that former Ghost personnel are involved, has steadily expanded its international profile over recent years, with a mix of Ghost followers worldwide and synth/EBM/industrial fans. We have covered them from their first (and best, so far) album “New Flesh” with impressive vocals from trained vocalist Tom Åsberg/Ginger Khan, who later left the band for Brides of the Black Room and solo releases, in line with his Priest contributions.
Alongside the fresh release, Priest are always eager to play live and are preparing for a major autumn trek across Europe and the UK, which kicks off with a series of domestic Scandinavian dates before heading into Germany, France, and the UK. I’ll catch them in Gothenburg, together with a reunited Alice in Videoland.
