WAVE IN HEAD
TIME TO SPEAK
ALBUM A DIFFERENT DRUM RELEASE: JULY, 2001 REVIEW: SEPTEMBER 3, 2001

Every now and then they surface. The projects that put out audio which leaves you all warm and cosy inside. It's been a while since I heard such retro embraced, analogue synthpop for the 21st century.
Wave in Head, a German one man band, makes me believe in a bright future for exclusively electronic pop music. I can live with the fact that "Time to Speak" staggers a bit towards the end, when the peaks are many and fantastic sounding. "Zeit zu leben", the opening track, sets the pace for the whole album, with skittering bass lines, well balanced bleeps, a catchy sing-along chorus and fancy, synth styled vocals.
"Time to Speak" is no synthpop revolution, but it helps in keeping the faith of evolution alive.
