SISTA MANNEN PÅ JORDEN
LOST TAPES - PALEONTOLOGI
ALBUM ENERGY RELEASE: FEBRUARY 29, 2004 REVIEW: MARCH 18, 2004

Eddie Bengtsson in Sista mannen på jorden (SMPJ) is the Swedish champion of ”blipp”. His songs feature a very high dosage of synthesizers blipping away. And it’s all good. This CD is an archaeological dig through his and partner Matts Wiberg's SMPJ archives, described in great detail in the entertaining booklet. Master tapes from the early 80's and onwards have been rescued by modern technology, and thus have lots of hitherto unreleased tracks seen the light of day.
I’m really surprised these songs haven’t been released before, since many of them are up there with the best they have ever done. “Aldrig har stjärnorna lyst så klart” is possibly my favourite, with a chorus that sticks like superglue.
This album sounds more or less like every release SMPJ have ever published, but hey, when it's this good, why change the formula?
