SIMPLY DEAD
STRUCTURE OF MINDS
ALBUM FLUTTERING DRAGON RELEASE: JUNE, 2000 REVIEW: JULY 7, 2000

I ended up totally blank after the first listen of "Structure of Minds". I couldn't recall a single song, not even parts of one. Thinking it would have something to do with it being fresh for me, I played it again. And again. With the same strange result. The mostly laid-back compositions are supposed to be influenced by Biosphere and Aphex Twin and some of Simply Dead's tracks are reminiscent of them, but lacking the skill to bring about that unmistakable gut feeling.
As a soundtrack before going to sleep this works, but in this case it's not a great compliment. Simply Dead are somewhat innovative in the use of occasional vocals, but it's no big help here. They are also something as unusual as a Swedish band on a Polish label. I find nothing to get intrigued by on "Structure of Minds". The music's simply dead.
