AKOS ROZMANN
IMPULSIONI I, II, III & DE TVÅ, MED TRE INSTRUMENT
COMPILATION ALBUM FYLKINGEN RELEASE: APRIL 26, 1999 REVIEW: JUNE 1, 1999

Born in Hungary, composer of electro acoustic music Akos Rozmann has studied and worked in Sweden since the seventies. His compositions are mazes of sound theory, abstract ideas and complex feelings. The more you learn about his thoughts behind each work, the more you can appreciate hearing them.
The problem with electro acoustic music is that most people, including myself, haven't "learned to listen" to it. We expect the regular rhythms and tonal scales of 20th century popular music. If these things are missing, we don't understand it.
That is a pity, since Rozmann and many other composers of electro acoustics create some of the most daring and exciting works that are being made today. Some of it is not at all that far from what Brian Eno named "ambient" on one of his bright days.
The record contains some of Rozmann's older compositions in updated versions and a new one, about church architecture and love, among other things. Give it a chance!
