ROTERSAND
I CRY
EP TRISOL, METROPOLIS RELEASE: AUGUST 25, 2008 REVIEW: SEPTEMBER 11, 2008

This band have gone remix mad, quite simply. Their love of re-envisioning their own works through the hands of other's and themselves has become an integral part of who they are as an act. With rather unsurprising results, "I Cry" is transformed into even more of a dancefloor juggernaut, the versions of "Rushing" and "I Am with You" don't disappoint.

They don't confound much either. The listening experience of this EP is a pleasurable one but even the non-album track "Call Me Stupid" sounds like a cast off and not something which reflects their abilities accurately. Perhaps Rotersand are now setting their sights on being the new 242 of this era but I'm not going to say this thing is their finest hour; trust me, it's not. As an introduction to the band, "I Cry" is more than amply equipped to do the business. I think it's that the lead track on this release sounds uncomfortably close to their break-out single "Merging Oceans". As always though, Rotersand's work takes time to develop and in this they remain unwavering.

Thanks guys but you shouldn't have gone this route, this is too much of a good thing.
