RAMMSTEIN
SONNE
MAXI SINGLE MOTOR, UNIVERSAL RELEASE: FEBRUARY 12, 2001 REVIEW: MARCH 12, 2001

"Sonne" is so German. So Rammstein. And I love it.
Although far from original, Rammstein is pretty much the only big name which makes this kind of utterly charming techno metal these days, so I can't blame them for sticking to what they're best at.
I must admit that I wasn't completely convinced the first times I heard "Sonne", but this typical Rammstein piece grows. Especially after I heard it on the dancefloor. And then I saw the good looking big budget video. This clip is something most similar bands would like to do but can't afford.
Now after I've heard it several dozen times, "Sonne" is an obvious hit in a row of Rammstein hits.
For me, that's what Rammstein is about: hits, party boosters, dance floor fillers... It's a kind of "funny" pop band for the industrial music scene.
The maxi single also gives us two average Clawfinger remixes, one instrumental version and another album song: "Adios". The album is more metal-oriented than we're used to. "Adios" is one of the clearest examples of this and far from the best song on the great "Mutter" album.
