QUIT YOUR DAYJOB
WORD DOMINATION
ALBUM ALLEYCAT RELEASE: MAY 11, 2011 REVIEW: MAY 27, 2011

If someone would ask me about the best live band in the world my answer might just be be the Swedish surfsynthrockband Quit Your Dayjob. Ever since I first saw their incredible performance on stage I have been hooked on their own special brand of music. The best way to describe their music would be a blend of Devo, Kraftwerk and The Stooges. On speed. Sort of.

Finally it's time for a new album, the first since "Tools for Fools" in 2007. I hit the play button and get a party in my head instantly and after a short while it's over, so I hit the button again and again and again. "Word Domination" has 16 songs, but serves them all in just 25 minutes. The formula is pretty simple; drums, synth, guitar and vocals that you sing along to instantly. Repeat. This is an album that I listen to over and over again, longing for just another fix.

The lyrics are incredibly simple, but they manage to create their own little weird universe and songs like "Joan of Ass", "Gin Tonic Eyes" and "Heavy Metal Mice" make perfect sense. If you want some excellent party music; check this out.
