PUISSANCE
TOTAL CLEANSING
ALBUM REGAIN RELEASE: JULY, 2001 REVIEW: AUGUST 30, 2001

Puissance is an industrial band from Sweden with two members, H Möller and F Söderlund. This is their third album, and the music on this one is dark, ambient, rhythmic and orchestral, often with a voice speaking over it, discussing things Puissance think about. These include freedom of speech, and the eradication of the human race. Their theory (if I understand correctly) is, since we can't get along anyway, someone should release the earth by killing all humans.
One song is a dedication to the atomic bomb, "Hail the Mushroom Cloud", one song is called "Genocide". The band is banned in several countries because of this, and it probably serves to get people's attention. Think what you want, let's discuss the music instead.
Although nothing special, the songs are indeed pleasant to listen to, very moody and grandiose. I think this album fits better playing in the background, but I guess that's not what the band wants, considering their extreme lyrics. If you can stomach their views on the world, "Total Cleansing" works fine as a backdrop when reading books of a darker kind.
