PARIS
LES AMIS DE PARIS
EP LOOK LEFT RELEASE: JANUARY 21, 2003 REVIEW: FEBRUARY 3, 2003

Like many other contemporary Swedish acts, Paris have decided to incorporate fragmentary retro electronics in their lo fi rock sound. The result is as pleasing at it is harmless. There is no denying the catchiness of most of the songs, sing-a-long hooks and playful melodies, but they battle a pretty common problem. It has been done. Over and over again. The two girls and two boys in Paris are good at what they do, but they need to develop further if they are thirsting for stardom and incredible wealth.
"Les Amis de Paris" easily surpasses many of the releases in its genre though, with perky pop tracks like "Streetlights", "Disco Ghost" and "Banks and Patches". The potential of the band is still obvious and I expect good things from them in the future.
