ALBUM BONNIER AMIGO RELEASE: MAY 26, 2010 REVIEW: JUNE 22, 2010

I'm guessing few people expected a brand new Page album when they were exploding through their alleged last ever concert at the SAMA concert back in 2000. Mastermind Eddie Bengtsson has continued his Sista mannen på jorden project, but his pure pop outlet had to be put on hold. Until now that is, when fellow band member Marina Schiptjenko's big selling blockbuster band BWO were taking a break and the timing for a Page reunion was perfect.

"Nu", a perky sibling to the 1995 album "Glad", embodies the Page philosophy nicely. All the way from "Alla som väntar" to the preppy Liquido cover "Min Drog" (originally "Narcotic"), the signature sound of the Swedish legends is overwhelmingly present. That is also the greatest weakness of the album as few new elements can be heard in this melodic pop mix.

As good a songwriter as Eddie Bengtsson is, "Nu" relies slightly too much on old ideas. At the same time it is an infectious and superbly crafted synthpop album. Will it be their last?
