ALBUM METROPOLIS RELEASE: SEPTEMBER 27, 2011 REVIEW: NOVEMBER 8, 2011

Sebastian Komor's tireless quest to have a project for each electronic sub genre continues. The time has now come for Sebastian to make industrial metal in the vein of Ministry et al, and as usual he does it with a considerable amount of skill. It's full on adrenaline bursting mayhem from the get go, and it rarely relents. This makes it a bit daunting to take in during one sitting, but I'm doing my best.

For this album, Sebastian has received contributions from ex-Front Line Assembly drummer Adrian White, and the album is mixed by (also ex-FLA) Rhys Fulber. Together they concoct a furious blend of electronics and guitars that even Mr Jourgensen himself would be proud of. As hinted above, it gets a bit too much after a while, and a bit samey. Finger-blistering riffs and ball-busting beats sometimes seem to rank higher than song writing, and that's negative points from me.

Instead, I enjoy the sleaze rock on "Sleepwalker" and the EBM leanings of "Worm" where the drums aren't always on double speed. For me, that's a lot heavier than "let's just furiously hit everything at once". Groove over speed any day. That's what she said…
