MADDER ROSE
HELLO JUNE FOOL
ALBUM COOKING VINYL RELEASE: AUGUST 9, 1999 REVIEW: AUGUST 27, 1999

Calm and sad indiepop fronted by a female singer. Heard this description before? Well, New Yorkers Madder Rose, are not the only ones, for sure. But definitely among the best.
One of the most important reasons is their songwriting skills. Another is the magic atmosphere, which is present at all times. And I have little more to ask of Mary Lorsson's pure vocals when she sings those bittersweet lyrics.
Albums like these tend to have a highlight, for some reason, and this time it's called "Goodbye June Fool". But except for this beautiful masterpiece, this cool album is pretty solid with nice tunes from beginning to end.
