LE SPORT
EURO DELUXE DANCE PARTY

ALBUM SONGS I WISH I HAD WRITTEN RELEASE: APRIL 5, 2006 REVIEW: APRIL 26, 2006

Le Sport, known at the time as Eurosport, charmed my pants off (figuratively speaking, you dirty little buggers!) playing their gorgeous hit songs ”Your Brother Is My only Hope” and ”Tell no one about Tonight” live in a pop club in Turku, Finland, last summer. The generous approach of providing most of their music for free on their website then helped me realise that their other songs where mostly not up to scratch. Following the same pattern as the euro disco bands to whom Le Sport pay homage with their generous and loving use of synth piano, they have now made an album with their two hits and an abundance of filler material.

Flirting with euro sleaze in kitsch cover design and exploiting the cliches of gay pop duos does not make up for the absence of good songs. Titles like ”Show me your Penis” and ”If Neil Tennant was my Lover” may raise some mirth, but the songs themselves are boring affairs. As is this disappointing album, failing dismally to live up to the great promise glimmering in the afore mentioned two songs. Back to the drawing-board, boys.
