KOMOR KOMMANDO
OIL, STEEL & RHYTHM
ALBUM ALFA MATRIX RELEASE: FEBRUARY 25, 2011 REVIEW: MARCH 9, 2011

Sebastian Komor have been in numerous bands, all over the music map. He’s got Icon of Coil, Zombie Girl, Melt, Squarehead, Monofader and Moonitor (did I miss anyone?) already on his plate, and now he’s just released the debut album of his latest project Komor Kommando. It’s called “Oil, Steel & Rhythm” and is a sort of retrospective take on the industrial genre.

With great musicality and production skills, Sebastian grabs the genre by the balls and fuses it with techno, house and old school industrial. It’s freak out dance electronic music, and thank fuck it’s got no hints of hellectro whatsoever.

“The Factory Incident” and “Shrapnel” both sound like they could be pulled from a Noise Unit album, while “Predator” - with KMFDM’s Sascha on vocals - sounds like The Prodigy signed to Nettwerk. Fantastic stuff.

Sebastian states in the press release that “I want to make club music that people will lose their minds to and basically scream, stomp and go absolutely insane”, and damn it worked on me.

There’s also double disc version of the album with a number of remixes and such, but unfortunately they don’t really add much of value. Stick to the main album. And dance your ass off.
