KNEEL IN FRONT OF THE EXECUTIONER

Slovakia. I unfold my map and start to look for Trnavia, the hometown of
Kneel in Front of the Executioner (KIFOTE), a band whose second album
"Spectaclebreakers" has happened to find its way into my surroundings.
KIFOTE exists somewhere in the same hightech borderland as Front Line
Assembly and Skinny Puppy once did. It's clearly the remains of the
latter that have made the biggest impact, especially in the structures of
the lyrics and from time to time also in the vocals. This territory has
been well explored before, but what makes it worthwhile this time is when
the band let the simplest melodies, stemming from a computer game, rise
over everything. Then something special happens and a new streak of light
breaks through and gives a small glimpse of hope for the future. In more
than one way.
