ALBUM MVG, MNW RELEASE: OCTOBER 21, 2003 REVIEW: NOVEMBER 24, 2003

Reviewing Kamera inevitably involves an element of commercialism. Now, those of you who have read at least a few of my reviews know that I don't share the narrow-minded views of the most conservative electro fans. The minute a synth band is played on national radio or is enjoyed by more than a small fraction of people, they are considered sellouts. Utterly ridiculous.
Kamera have received extensive airplay in Sweden this year as a result of their two successful singles "At Work" and "Fragile". Good for them, I say. Their self-titled debut is very solid indeed, hammering the listener with catchy pop tunes, filled both with playful synthpop, and, mostly, quite bland brit-pop laden wave rock. To me, while strong, some of the songs seem to be the result of already established patterns. In short, Kamera impress me, but don't surprise me. Not in any way.
Last summer I reviewed a sampler of this album.
