GIRL AND THE ROBOT
THE BEAUTY OF DECAY
ALBUM TRISOL RELEASE: APRIL 6, 2010 REVIEW: JUNE 8, 2010

A duo consisting of Deadbeat and Plastique may not sound all that exciting on paper, but I gradually and rather convincingly get swept away by the imaginative electronic soundscapes.

Swedish mastermind Deadbeat creates a vivid mesh of multi-layered electronic ambience, while Plastique (more known as one of the female vocalists in Welle:Erdball) shines behind the mic. "The Beauty of Decay" is not your typical futurepop-esque club monster, but rather a laid back electropop pearl, managing to be both thoughtful and in your face at the same time.

Girl and the Robot have indeed found a small segment within the synthpop scene where they can work their magic (in fact, as soon as the BPM count increases, their songs get weaker). The gorgeous "I Will Always Be with You" sets the tone for this strangely cosy rollercoaster ride.
