FRONT 242
CATCH THE MEN
DVD ALFA-MATRIX RELEASE: MAY, 2005 REVIEW: JUNE 1, 2005

This is strangely enough the first live video by Front 242, and it’s a good first effort. We're taken to a concert in Belgium together with a huge crowd, and the footage is complete with Richard 23 yelling at a bottle throwing idiot in the audience. The set is comprised by the usual technofied versions of a variety of tracks, brought forth by the wildly enthusiastic Richard and Jean-Luc de Meyer jumping about on stage like kangaroos on a trampoline. They sure know how to ignite a crowd!
The sound on this DVD is only 2.0 stereo, but the visuals are crisp with several camera angles. There are absolutely no bonus material whatsoever though, which is sad. Some interviews or backstage documentary would have been fun.
If you like the direction Front 242 have taken live, this DVD is an obvious investment, but if you're more old school you probably dream of a DVD from the legenadary early tours during their golden days. Then again, this is perhaps the only live DVD we get, so a purchase might be justified anyway.
