FRANZ TREICHLER
BRAINDANCE
ALBUM INTOXYGENE RELEASE: OCTOBER, 2001 (FRANCE) REVIEW: JANUARY 30, 2002

When Franz Treichler of The Young Gods go solo, he does it as the musical maestro for the choreographic works of Gilles Jobin, and he does it with flair. This is not music for the ordinary dancer (but you can try it at home if you want to). No, it’s more like ambient music for the mind, and you either hate it or love it. I sign up for the latter as Treichlers disharmonies, white noise and heartbeats once again brings me down and then picks me up to new heights of my consciousness.
Sounds far out?
Well it is. I regret not seeing "Braindance", "A+B=X" and "Macrocosm" performed on stage, but try to recreate the dances in my brain while listening to Treichler's godlike music. I’m not sure if I will succeed, but as a break from, but in the same league as, Aphex Twin’s "Drukqs", "Braindance" works just fine.
