DEEPSKIN
JUDAS
ALBUM DREAM CATCHER, PLAYGROUND RELEASE: MAY 22, 2000 REVIEW: JUNE 3, 2000

Ex-Moonspell member Ares probably formed Deepskin to let off some of his industrial/metal steam. And as with so many other gothic-rooted artists suddenly realising their occupational rigidity, this means a clumsy renewal through electronics they've never understood.
Turning both ears and eyes toward our contemporary Empire across the Atlantic Ocean, Deepskin's Portuguese lads have picked up the worst clichés of it's mostly very uninspiring metal scene. And when a slight melodic interest pops up on their debut album "Judas", it soon gets stuck in it's productional mess.
In a true American way, they also swagger about the sponsors, with whose help this little "alternative" adventure was made possible. Go ahead, just wash away the last little left-overs of credibility…
