ANGELZOOM
FAIRYLAND
ALBUM NUCLEAR BLAST RELEASE: OCTOBER 10, 2004 REVIEW: DECEMBER 7, 2004

Aah, this is almost heartbreakingly beautiful at times. Angelzoom is ex-vocalist Claudia from X-Perience, and she sings to warm ethereal music in the same vein as Enya and other new age artists. It all gets a bit samey and sappy after a while, but it’s very slick and polished. Finnish string-trio Apocalyptica is featured on some tracks and I must say that real strings really beat the shit out of synthesized ones at times. Angelzoom have also made a couple of covers, like for example “Blasphemous Rumours” by Depeche Mode and even Linkin Park’s “Crawling”. The DM cover is pretty decent actually, but doesn’t live up to the fantastic original.
To finish off, this is a nice album, but maybe too nice, if you know what I mean.
