AND ONE
AGGRESSOR
ALBUM VIRGIN RELEASE: AUGUST 29, 2003 REVIEW: AUGUST 28, 2003

A part of me thinks that Steve Naghavi and his cohorts need to get some new devices for their studio. And perhaps they actually need to get some new ideas altogether. All the songs here sound like And One have tried exceptionally hard to sound like - And One. And boy did they succeed.
The other part of me still likes it, and can’t sit still in front of the computer while writing this. Especially when listening to the fantastic piece “Strafbomber”, where uncharacteristically aggressive vocals complement the powerful music. And One has decided to sing in German on the entire album, and of course this fits their style like a glove. Re-recruited member Chris Ruiz sings in "Fernsehapparat" and early primitive and playful And One sounds and ideas can be traced back to his days in the band. And there are no sappy love songs like “Driving with My Darling” this time, which might account for the album title.
All in all, this is once again a solid effort from And One, and if you like them, you can’t go wrong with “Aggressor”. It won’t get them any new fans however, and I feel that yet another album that sounds exactly the same might be over the top.
