A video for the song "We're in This Together" was recently shot in Mexico by director Mark Pellington. The video will be shown on MTV from August 28 and on. NIN will also perform on MTV Music Awards on September 9. A single for "We're in This Together" will be out after the album release, on October 11, except for in North America where it will not be commercially released.
Nothing is certain, but Nine Inch Nails may tour South America and Europe in October and November, with Japanese and Australian dates coming up early next year. /Kristoffer Noheden

  • The upcoming Pet Shop Boys album will be called "Night Life" and should be in your local record store on October 12. /Erik Almgren

    Scanner performed 16 gigs simultaneously
  • Experimental techno-act Scanner, a k a Robin Rimbaud, certainly doesn't lack a sense of humour. After recently launching his new album "Lauwarm Instrumentals", he simultaneously performed 16 gigs across Europe and the US - without attending any of them! Instead lookalikes were sent to each location, fooling everyone - including the press. Many of the gigs were even reviewed favourably in various newspapers by journalists seemingly unaware of the scam. /Erik Almgren

Marilyn Manson live album and video release

  • Marilyn Manson are currently putting together a live album and an accompanying video, which will include all of their music videos, as well as extra live and backstage footage. No release date is set but the name of the album will be "The Last Tour on Earth" (of course) and the video will (of course, again) be called "God Is in the TV".
Manson also appears on the soundtrack to "Detroit Rock City" with a cover of AC/DC:s "Highway to Hell". This album should be available by now. /Erik Almgren

    Controversial Leftfield video
  • Leftfield are currently showing the controversial video for the new single "Afrika Shox" on their website. The video was made by Chris Cunningham, who among others directed Aphex Twin's "Come To Daddy" and Björk's "All Is Full of Love". It shows a disturbed man on the streets of New York, whose limbs fall off and smash on the ground. He is then hit by a car.
The video is the last to be made by Cunningham, who is now concentrating on feature films. "Afrika Shox", featuring guest vocalist Afrika Bambaataa, is released on September 6, followed by the album, "Rhythm and Stealth", on September 20 (later than eariler reported). /Erik Almgren

Uncertainties about the US release of forthcoming Pig album
  • A new Pig EP, entitled "Disrupt Degrade and Devastate", was released on July 17 by Rock Records in Japan. The title track is a funky piece, co-written with former KMFDM guitarist Günter Schulz, while the other new song, "Flesh Fest", is slow, heavy and packed with stunning big band samples. They both sound promising for the forthcoming album "Black Brothel", which is, according to Pig's manger Yoshi Hoshina, now scheduled for a November release. However, rumour has it that the planned US release on Wax Trax!/TVT Records is uncertain at the moment. According to TVT it's just the ordinary legal procedures that has to be taken care of, so we will just have to wait and see how it turns out. /Kristoffer Noheden

Dead Can Dance drummer releases solo album on Projekt
  • Peter Ulrich, longtime drummer of Dead Can Dance, released the solo album "Pathways and Dawns" on August 10 on the American label Projekt. According to the record company, Ulrich works in the same lines as Brian Eno, Jah Wobble and John Cale, using elements ranging from tribal drumming, Javanese gamelan, flamenco and droning hurdy gurdys. No wonder then that Ulrich is assisted by Dead Can Dance founder Brendan Perry on parts of the album. /Kristoffer Noheden
