No more Arvika festival

Jun 27, 2011 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Reykjavik, Iceland)

Due to poor ticket sales the Arvika Festival has decided to give up and file for bankruptcy. We are sorry to hear that an institution in the Scandinavian alternative and electronic scene since 1992 is dead.

The Roskilde festival invites everyone with Arvika tickets to visit the festival for free.

Erasure have annonced the title of their forthcoming album. ”Tomorrow’s World" is set to be released in the Autumn of 2011. The album is produced by Frankmusik and Vince Clarke has programmed the sounds using his analogue equipment in his studio The Cabin in Maine, with additional production in LA and London.

- I still use Logic and I program the entire songs using software, but then I reprogram everything using my old synthesizers, very tedious but I found I can’t get the same warmth from the soft synths, he told me at the Mute Records fest in London in mid-May.

Vince also told me the first single from the album will be the track ”Save Me” (but I was not allowed to publish the info at the time) and no release date is confirmed yet.

Coinciding with the album release there will be a tour, the first leg covering the US and Canada in August, September and October. Currently Erasure are in the midst of their "Total Pop Forest Tour" covering Europe and South America.

On a side-note, singer Andy Bell has made it so far (to round three) in the British TV-program ”Popstar to Opera Star” on ITV.
