New "Electropop" compilation out this week

Apr 28, 2011 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

We rarely write about compilations these days, mostly because there aren't that many out there. This week, Conzoon Records gives us the 6th version of the "Electropop" compilation series. The CD contains 13 unreleased synthpop tracks from artists that have not been included on previous compilations, for instance Vangard, Oblique and Future/Perfect. Compilations normally feature some celebs, but Conzoon wants to dedicate all the space to up and coming acts.

After going off on other sonic adventures, Daniel Myer and Dejan Samardzic have joined forces again and will soon release their new album "New World March". The first taste of today's Haujobb is the single "Dead Market" which just got a final release date - June 17.

The song is mixed by Paul Kendall, who is Alan Wilder's music partner in Recoil. Daniel Myer opened for Recoil on a number of dates (under the Architect moniker), and they became friends.

One new track is on the single as well, a thing called "Letting the Demons Sleep". As far as remixes go, we find mixes by The Horrorist, Absolute Body Control, and Nomenklatür.

Swedish electronic label Megahype (Mobile Homes, Lowe) has just signed the electropop band Stum. The band was formed in 1999 by David Engdahl and Daniel Sidevärn, both from Östersund in the middle of Sweden. They started making hard EBM under the moniker Industrijugend but decided they wanted to change their style after making a ballad.

The first single is a cover of Kings of Leon's hit "Sex on Fire", and it will also be included on the upcoming debut EP "Extra Play", out in one week, on April 27.
