Howard Jones finally remasters back catalogue

Feb 10, 2011 | By: Johan Carlsson (Stockholm, Sweden)

One of synthpop's earliest stars was Howard Jones, breaking through in the early eighties with his two albums "Human's Lib" and "Dream into Action". Those two albums were released in remastered form recently, both separately and as a box with a bonus disc with early live performances. Unfortunately that box is now sold out.

Now, next in line are the two remix albums "The 12" Album" and "Action Replay", remastered by Howard and his pal Robbie Bronneman. Available separately or in a box set. The box also includes a bonus disc containing several rare mixes and versions that have never been released on CD before (for example the 1983 7" version of "Conditioning"). The box is available for pre-order on February 21, out on March 21.

Howard is still active in the music business, and he released his latest album "Ordinary Heroes" last year.

This time, the award went to Code 64 for their album "Trialogue". It's reviewed here, and is a excellent piece of work.

The other nominees for the award were Cryo, Social Ambitions and Page.

New Wumpscut album in the Spring

Feb 9, 2011 | By: Johan Carlsson (Stockholm, Sweden)

I really don't know what to think about the new Wumpscut cover art, but it's kind of fun to see something that doesn't follow the usual cliches in the genre. The album is called "Schrekk und Grauss", and Rudy Ratzinger seem to aim for an April release.

As usual with Wumpscut releases there will be a plethora of different editions, I counted six different versions on the band's web shop, ranging from a pretty basic release up to a "completist" edition. The latter features a box set, a jacket, posters, vinyl, etc etc and sets you back 156 Euro.
