April 28, 2010 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

Gothenburg duo Kopfer Kat has been with Progress Productions since the early days of the label, but the debut album has not been completed until now. On May 26, Kopfer Kat unleash "Skrammelpop", the hardest release yet on Progress. We're talking about uncompromising rhythms and noise-driven club music similar to that of Sonar and Terrorfakt.

The end of Thermostatic

April 20, 2010 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

Swedish synthpop band Thermostatic has just announced that "after nearly seven years of making music together we've decided to turn the engines off" and that "it is time to move on, but we're not sorry and hope that none of you out there are either".

The previously announced gig in Gothenburg on May 1 will be the last and the band invites everyone to take part in the set list construction.

Club The Station hosts the release party for the Twice a Man album the same night in the same city.

Release feature writer Peter Marchione is a member of Thermostatic.

Howard Jones to perform classic synthpop albums live

April 20, 2010 | By: Johan Carlsson (London, UK)

Around 1984 I started to listen to Howard Jones. I was ten years old, and I loved the sound of his poppy synthesizers. His first two albums "Human's Lib" and "Dream into Action" were played constantly in my bedroom, and they set the tone of my entire musical life. Now I finally have the chance to experience those albums performed live, as Howard Jones himself will play them both in full on stage in November. Howard's newsletter calls it a multimedia event with specially commissioned visuals, and the music will be performed with both old and modern synthesizers.

Tickets are on sale, the gig is at IndigO2 in London, and there are VIP tickets. For the premium charge, you then get a limited edition numbered CD, access to the sound check, as well as the after party which Howard will attend.

New Erasure in the works, Andy Bell solo, plus Yazoo live album

April 16, 2010 | By: Johan Carlsson (London, UK)

Andy Bell and Vince Clarke are at it again, working in London to write songs for a new Erasure album. According to video blogs on YouTube, Vince is hoping to record the album using only his analogue gear, which sounds promising. Since the album is only at writing stage at the moment, don't expect it until next year.

Andy Bell is also busy with his solo career, having just released two electro-ish singles called "Running out" and "Will You Be There?", with a third single "Call on Me" on its way (May 10). A full length album called "Non Stop" hits your favourite download facility or record shop on May 24. Andy has dropped his alias Mimó.

In further news, Vince has recently confirmed in an interview on the Howard Stern show that there will be a Yazoo live album, probably out in September.
