New Portion Control album in one month

The hard hitting British band Portion Control will release a new album on March 12. The title is "Violently Alive" and the product will be released as CD, digital download and also in an "Operator Edition" with a large sample pack included.


83 industrial artists help fight cancer

Several of us here at Release have witnessed the horrors of cancer, so we salute the initiative to raise money for cancer research by releasing a box set with exclusive tracks from the industrial music scene.

The four CD Metropolis Records box set "Electronic Saviors: Industrial Music to Cure Cancer" is compiled by cancer survivor, promoter and DJ Jim Semonik. 83 (!) artists from all over the world are participating, including Leæther Strip, Combichrist, Suicide Commando, Aesthetic Perfection, Assemblage 23, Iris and Stromkern. A fifth "CD" can be downloaded after purchasing the box, which is out now.


Andy Bell calls himself Mimó on new solo single

Erasure frontman Andy Bell is back with a new solo single, this time under the name Mimó. "Will You Be There" is out this week in the UK (USA will follow in March). It is produced by Bell and Pascal Gabriel (Dido, Kylie, Ladyhawke) and sounds like middle of the road dance pop.

A musician already working as Mimo has legally challanged Andy Bell's right to use a variation of that name, so Andy will go back to releasing material under his own name on future releases.


IAMX album with reworked versions

March 19 marks the release of the next IAMX product. "Dogmatic Infidel Comedown OK" features reworked songs from the latest album "Kingdom of Welcome Addiction". Among the participants we find Combichrist, Terence Fixmer, Alec Empire and Black Light Odyssey.


New album from Twice a Man in April

After some live shows earlier this winter, Twice a Man now have a date set for the new album "Icicles". On April 14 we get to see the result, said to be a trip back to 80:s. Some new songs are up on their MySpace.

Release visited their concert in their home city Gothenburg last December and found that the band sounded better than in a long time, still acting as true pioneers.


Devo will perform at the Olympic Winter Games

36 years after their birth, Devo will be perform after a victory ceremony at the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver on February 22, for a potential TV audience of three billion. They say they will play old favourites and new songs from the upcoming Warner album.

- We are really excited to have the opportunity to let everyone know that De-evolution is real!, Devo founder Jerry Cascale says.

Devo are planning festival gigs and a proper tour in North and South America, Europe, Japan, Australia.


Industrial compilation mixes stars and newcomers

The fourth "Industrial for the Masses" compilation is scheduled for March 3 by Out of Line. Combichrist, Dulce Liquido (pic), Nachtmahr, Northborne and UnterART are some of the featured artists, ranging from techno club to harsh industrial. The majority of the acts are fairly unknown. A maxi from Maelstrom Inc makes up a second disc in this double package.


Rome EP includes stringed versions of classic songs

The new EP from Luxemburg duo Rome "L'assassin" is out now after a slight delay. The EP does not contain anything from the latest album "Flowers from Exile"; instead two new songs - "L'assassin" and "One Flesh" - as well as new stringed versions of the classics "Der Brandtaucher" and "Der erscheinungen Flucht" from the older "Masse Mensch Material" album.


Second Edge of Dawn album in May

Dependent has scheduled the second Edge of Dawn album "Anything That Gets You Through the Night" for May. Edge of Dawn is a German electronic music duo consisting of Frank Spinath (Seabound) and Mario Schumacher and they released their debut "Enjoy the Fall" in 2007.
