Until November 19 you can nominate records for next year’s Manifest Awards that will take place at Nalen, Stockholm on February 9, 2009. The event will award Swedish albums in a total of twelve categories, among them synth, dance (electronic, techno etc) and artmusic (experimental, noise etc). Only records from Swedish independent labels can be awarded. Release Johan Carlsson is in the jury this year.

Last year’s winner in the synth category was "Extended Playtime" from Terror Punk Syndicate (Progress Productions). The Terror Punk Syndicate web site doesn't seem to have been updated since then though, as a Manifest post is the latest news.

And speaking of "Rage in Eden", Billy Currie will release a new solo album on April 6, and at least one of the tracks is said to be inspired by that album.

Curiously unusual sounds from Illinois

November 12, 2008 | By: Peter Marks (Portland, Oregon USA)

Recently, a new, unsigned one man act called One Eye Wanders caught our ear here at Release and now we pass along some information about them to you. This band's list of influences includes Doubting Thomas and most surprisingly of all aDuck, which was the project of legendary sound magician Dwayne R. Goettel (think you all know what band he was in). Atmosphere is given priority in One Eye Wanders and some of their style is downright experimental in nature. We'll have more on this outfit as time wears on but for now, enjoy the beautiful noise.
