Arvika and M'era Luna line-ups complete

Jun 13 2007 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

We were hoping for a big headliner in the last artist release from Arvika but we get... 69 Eyes. The line-up is now complete. This year's fest have many interesting small and medium sized acts (like I AM X and Portion Control) but for the biggest stage Vintergatan, the organisers have spent their money mostly on bands of lesser interest for the Release readers.

As usual, a bunch from the Release staff will pack their bags and go.

See On Stage.

Germany's M'era Luna also completed their line-up today, with Emelie Autumn.

Further Vault exploration from Subconscious

Jun 1 2007 | By: Peter Marks (Portland, Oregon)

"Back and Forth Vol.7" and "Kushbush/Music for Grassbars" (Subconscious Studios) are now out and selling quite rapidly.

This new installment of the Back and Forth series features an entire disc's worth of outtakes and demo recordings from the chaotic "Last Rights" and "The Process" eras of Skinny Puppy. Fans will be pleased to know that an alternate version of the song "Candle" is included on this album and Decree fans will no doubt sit up and take notice of some Mr. Goettel's work which appears here and was included on Decree's debut album "Wake of Devastation".

"Kushbush" is an entirely new album recorded this year by Cevin Key and Phil Western. It is the first new work by Plateau since the last Vault-only release "Iceolator". Wheras Download's "Fixer" was a lush exercise in melodic dissonance, "Kushbush" is a much more minimal affair that will have IDM/glitch fans scratching their heads in wonderment.

"Music for Grass Bars", the debut album from Plateau has been enhanced with the addition of the band's "Dutch Flowers" EP which has long been out of print. "Music for Grass Bars" confounded both the fans and critics upon its original release back in 1997 and will no doubt continue to do so.

These two releases complete the latest Vault subscription series which also included new work from The Tear Garden and for some reason or other more unreleased mayhem from Key's guilty pleasure: Hilt.
