Debut album from Noirhaus with remix by Vince Clarke

Oct 30 2006 | By: Niklas Forsberg (Kungälv, Sweden)

American Jeff Harper, a remixer of such diverse and prominent acts as Madonna, New Order, Garbage, Depeche Mode, The Cure and Nine Inch Nails, has launched his own project, Noirhaus.

The debut album "The World Forgetting by the World Forgot" is out now and focuses mainly on moody electro/rock. Dark ballads and more upbeat synth and/or guitar driven tracks make up the tracklist which also includes a Vince Clarke remix of the track "It's over".

- I come from a very musical family, so it was natural that I started playing at a very early age. I can play most every instrument except flute, Jeff Harper says.

Greed from Vidna Obmana and Klinik

Oct 27 2006 | By: Peter Marks (Portland, Oregon, USA)

"Greed" (label Hands) is the continuation of a collaboration between Marc Verhaeghen (Klinik) and Vidna Obmana. This album is out November 7, being billed as a darker, more electronic companion piece to 2004's "Gluttony". Both parties involved in this release are, not surprisingly, keeping quite quiet about the motive behind their newest work. Further news as events unfold.

Stockholm EBM fest Sonic Havoc returns in 2007

Oct 23 2006 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

Feindflug headline Sonic Havoc, the second EBM festival in Stockholm in a little bit more than three months.

Well in advance of the official release (which will take place in connection to next weekend's Tinitus Festival), we can tell you that the hard-sounding Stockholm festival Sonic Havoc returns on February 3, 2007.

Feindflug visited Stockholm and Tinitus a couple of years ago and now they are trusted to headline Sonic Havoc. In the line-up we also find EBM veterans Tyske Ludder, Sweden's Run Level Zero, newcomers Supreme Court and finally Cyborg Attack.

Sonic Havoc is held at the Stockholm University and the tickets are 180 Swedish crowns (about 20 Euro).

Sonic Havoc and Tinitus have the same organiser. Tinitus 2006 on Saturday at Münchenbryggeriet is about to get sold-out, which is no surprise considering the headliners are Nitzer Ebb and Front 242 (old-school performance).

We have the details for Friday's pre-party which will be held at Hornsgatan 62. Two bands on stage: Ashbury Heights (from the Out of Line label) and Menticide with Dupont ex-vocalist Johan Damm. According to Tinitus, Menticide will eventually release their debut CD on SubSpace Communications.

See The Knife live on DVD

Oct 23 2006 | By: Johan Carlsson (Stockholm, Sweden)

After seeing The Knife live at the Arvika Festival this summer, I’ve been hoping for a live DVD. And finally my wish has come true, as Rabid Records will issue “Silent Shout – An Audio Visual Experience” on November 8, via Border.

The concert is filmed on a much smaller performance in Gothenburg on April 12, and is recorded with 5.1 sound, as well as stereo. Also included are all the band's videos, from “N.Y. Hotel” up to “Like a Pen”, and a previously unreleased video for “Marble House”.

Laibach loves Silence

Laibach's new grand album "Volk", featuring treatments of a number of national anthems, has been co-written and co-produced by Boris Benko and Primož Hladnik. They also happen to be members of one of the select few other Slovenian bands covered in Release. Silence received much praise for their melodic electronic pop sound in the review of their debut album "Ma Non Troppo" back in 1997. Since then they have been hard at work on various soundtracks and scores, as well as releasing two more albums and most recently a compilation.

Their cinematic influence can be clearly heard on "Volk", and Benko's vocals turn up here and there on the tracks. He also turns up in the video for the first single "Anglia".

Silence will join Laibach on their upcoming tour.

"Volk" is released on Monday, October 23.

The members of Swedish dark rock act Beseech say they "have grown apart from each other as persons" and have different views of how they want Beseech to work as a band.

They put Beseech to rest, but plan one or more farewell concerts.

”Allt vi en gång trodde på”, written by Lustans Lakejer frontman Johan Kinde, has been chosen to participate in the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest semifinals 2007. It is unclear at this point if Kinde himself is going to perform his song. It, and one more, were accepted as replacements for disqualified songs.

The single "Wake up Time" will be released on November 29 (release party at Storan in Gothenburg the same day), followed by the debut album "The Art and the Evil" in January.

Adolphson & Falk tour after new album

Oct 16 2006 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

Swedish synth music pioneers Adolphson & Falk hit the roads for seven performances in their home country from November 25 - December 16.

Their machines are shut off these days though, as they perform old hits like "Blinkar blå" in a new mature, conventional setting, both on stage and on record. "Vidare" is released this week and reviewed by Release' Mattias Huss here. Readers everywhere are strongly advised to pick up their old classic albums from the eighties. Read more at the new website here.
