Till Lindemann hurt during Metaltown show

August 5 2005 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

Rammstein vocalist Till Lindemann hurt his knee during the end of the performance, which was the grand finale of the Metaltown outdoor fest on a harbour pier in Gothenburg last Saturday. Nor the injury, neither the rain could stop their explosive gig from being a successful one complete with everything we have come to expect from these German showmen, with the rubber boat ride, cooking session and all.

The rain didn't put out the fire special fx:s, present in more or less every song, but the rainfall was moderate compared to earlier that day when Dark Tranquility, Apocalyptica, Hanoi Rocks, Tiamat and the rest of the line-up played during the wettest day of the year in Gothenburg (?).

Rammstein did not present any new songs (like they did with "Benzin" in Berlin recently).

Tiamat vocalist Johan Edlund told the audience his parents were watching the show. It appeared, he was slightly electrocuted on stage (don't play with rain and electricity) but the show went on.

Due to the Rammstein accident, where Till crashed with the keyboard player riding on wheels, he cannot appear on stage for at least a few weeks. The Eastern trip included playing South Korea for the first time and Japan.

Metaltown organisers say 9 000 people were present, which was satisfactory during the circumstances. This means that Metaltown might return for a third edition 2006.

Tinitus line-up complete

August 3 2005 | By: Mikael Kahrle (Gothenburg, Sweden)

Today, Stockholm's Tinitus revealed the last live acts for this year's festival on November 26. These are Agonize (picture), Rotersand, Die Krupps, Thermostatic, Militant Cheerleaders on the Move and Thomas P Heckmann (on the new Bunker club stage).

Die Krupps made a retro-flavoured comeback in Leipzig in May and intend to play songs from their entire career. The German EBM legends were once Swedish live favourites but lost most of their old fanbase when they transformed into a metal act. Rotersand will enter Swedish soil for the very first time.

The previous bookings are Howard Jones, Apoptygma Berzerk and Combichrist.

Marina Schiptjenko (Bodies without Organs, ex Page, ex Vacuum) and Gustav Bendt (Moneybrother, Club Killers) will be joined by more DJ:s to be hired later on.

Ticket sales starts on August 8 (price tag SEK 400 as last year). 25 tickets to the pre-party will be given away among the early buyers.

Covenant's web site offers previews of "Skyshaper" building blocks.
