Finally some word from Kraftwerk

News is spreading about upcoming live releases from Kraftwerk, recorded during their 2004 tour of the world. Due out soon, if all goes as planned, is a double DVD, double CD, multichannel SACD and a box with four vinyl albums. The package is called “Minimum Maximum”, but a release date is not yet official.
Kraftwerk has also announced three new gigs for 2005: June 30, Rock Werchter Festival, Belgium. July 3, Eurockéennes de Belfort, France. July 4, Montreux Jazz Festival, Switzerland. /Johan Carlsson

Pet Shop Boys working in Italy
The two electropoppers Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe in Pet Shop Boys are working on their new album, slated to come out sometime in spring 2006. So far they’ve written eight songs for it, and they are currently in Italy, working with programmer Luca Baldini who is also a DJ and member of duo Dance Society.
In other news, the boys have compiled a disc each in the “Back to Mine” series, where musicians choose their favourite tracks. It will be issued as a double disc affair soon.
The dynamic duo has also written a new song for the Swedish disco outfit Alcazar called “Baby”. This is the second song they’ve written for Alcazar. /Johan Carlsson

First NIN gig ever in Sweden
Two of the leading Swedish festivals have revealed some of their plans.
On top of the list is of course the first live gig ever on Swedish soil for Nine Inch Nails at the normally quite predictable Hultsfred Festival (June 16-18), where Trent Reznor and co will play alongside countrymen Marilyn Manson, Tori Amos, Slipknot and Slayer. NIN were supposed to play in Stockholm many years ago, the gig was cancelled at the last minute (I noticed, at the entrance...) while the band remained in Germany where they also played. The expensive US NIN and Manson shows at the same festival with about the same audience might be called overkill. Or fantastic.
The Arvika Festival (July 14-16) would probably have been proud over just one of these industrial superstars but so far we have only heard about DAF, Silverbullit, Dimbodius, Slagsmålsklubben, Doktor Kosmos and Håkan Hellström. It wouldn't surprise us if Arvika, after last year's catastrophic result, makes sure they don't miss several mainstream and alternative stars (like the mentioned Mr Hellström) this time around. That doesn't necessarily mean that they let the Release readers down - they have never done so in the past. This fine fest has a new site at a new URL: www.arvikafestivalen.se. /Mikael Kahrle

An unspoken duo from Canada

Mikela J. Mikael and Len Paul are the two behind Unspoken, an electronic duo from Canada. Their sound is a mix of spoken word, emotive vocals and trip hop electronica. In 2004, Len – also active in electronic act Freaky DNA – made the original soundtrack for the highest grossing Canadian documentary ever, “The Corporation”, with Mikela as the narrator. Mikaela has also worked with video maker Rod Chong and Front 242’s Daniel Bressanutti in M.O.R.F, and later on with Junkie XL in Speedtribe. She’s also worked a lot as an actress, and has appeared in several movies and television shows, including “L Word”.
Unspoken’s debut album is due out later this year. /Johan Carlsson

Swedish electropoppers Michigan will get a German release via Infacted in April. It’s their second album “Ultimate Sky” that’s getting the new release, complete with three bonus tracks from the “Red Dawn” single, and new artwork. /Johan Carlsson

"Intermezzo" with Dupont
The hardhitting old-school EBM band Dupont from Sweden is no longer a trio, but a duo consisting of Ricardo and Danucci (Daniel Jonasson, Stockholm festival and club organizer). They're back with a new album entitled “Intermezzo” and this time they’ve incorporated a more modern style, with some techno influences. The album contains eleven tracks, including two remixes by their friends Covenant and Interlace. Out on March 7 on Life Is Painful. /Johan Carlsson

Vote for the fourth Lowe single

Lowe leave it up to the fans (at their web site) to chose the fourth single to be picked from their debut album "Tenant" in May. Lowe is still looking for international partners and as usual, they have a few live dates in their schedule: London on March 26 and SAMA, where they are nominated in three categories. /Mikael Kahrle
