On
Stage: Frequently Asked
Questions
Information for readers
and organisers. If you
miss any information, don't
hesitate to mail us.
What do you include
in the On Stage guide?
Scandinavian clubs, concerts,
festivals, fairs and other
events within our field of
music. On Stage has a slightly
broader musical perspective than
our other sections, as a concert
with artist X may be of interest
for our readers even if it's
not a typical "Release artist",
especially in regions with few
gigs.
How complete is
your coverage?
We are proud over the fact
that we actually cover
close to 100% of the important
events within our field
of music and most of the
smaller ones too. We
receive hundreds of e-mails
from organisers
and readers and track down
info ourselves. We have
improved our routines since
we started in 1986.
What should be included
in an On Stage submission?
The basics, preferably written
exactly the way it will be published
(see On Stage and copy our standard).
Please note that we need to know
the venue and web site address.
Incomplete submissions may be
ignored.
Why isn't my event
listed?
We reserve the right
to exclude dates for different
reasons. We need complete information
well in advance.
Why isn't On Stage
global like the rest
of site?
A global concert
guide would be enormous
and simply too much
work. On Stage has a history
as a Swedish guide in
the old printed Release.
Since there are few alternative
sources of concert information
in Scandinavia, we have
kept On Stage. Our News
section covers global tours,
festivals and so on.
In the past you
featured some major happenings
abroad, like German festivals...
These are covered
in the News section and
we decided to keep On Stage
strictly Scandinavian from
2006 and on.
Why did you start
On Stage?
So that
our readers would find the
numerous events out there.
It's good for the scene (and
us). There are few other
ways of finding this information
(even more so in the past).
How often is On Stage
updated?
Up to several
times daily. Naturally there
may be small gaps from time
to time.
Can't
you have links together
with the events, like
you had prior to 2006?
We rely upon our Links
- Live section, which has been improved.
Linking all the individual events
is mostly too much work.
What's
your thought behind the
Live Reports?
Sometimes we choose to write
about events of special interest,
like a festival our special live
show; a tour start perhaps. We
don't aim at complete coverage
or a balanced mix here, however.
So far, the reports have appeared
sporadically. It has to do with
our limited time and that we
focus on our main sections. We
would love to publish more texts
and photos. In many cases, if
there's news value, we write
something for the News section
instead.
Do you want invitations
or proposals?
Yes please. Organisers
should know that, naturally,
we need your support in order
to be able to make a report like
free accreditation (minimal requirement,
we don't pay to work).
Do you accept material
from external writers
and photographers?
Yes gladly, but please note that
we cannot pay writers and photographers.
We might be of assistance before
an event; in most cases we get
press and photo passes, with
or without asking. Of course,
the writer can't be associated
with the event.
Where can Release
cover events?
Almost everywhere. We're
based in Sweden but have staff
members and use external writers
from all over the world. We travel
a lot, to festivals and gigs. |
